The commercial I just heard had the following voiceover, "As an honest, hardworking American, you have rights..."
Really? What part of cheating on your taxes is honest? Perhaps these people are "working hard" at cheating the IRS? How stupid can you be?
Then again, I also keep wondering - if our debt is so big and our economy is so bad, why exactly is the IRS allowing people to get out of paying what they owe?

Not everyone that uses those services are dishonest or theives.
Furthermore, not everyone that gets in tax trouble is dishonest, trying to cheat the gov. or theives...
No, the people who get in trouble tend to be more the 'church administrator' type....lol :)
I hate those commercials, too. Paying someone to be the middleman between you & the IRS. They give you all kinds of leniency - just takes a phone call and 3 days of listening to hold music. :)
In my interview with the IRS last year, I was surprised to find out the job I had applied for required me to carry a handgun...now THAT's our tax dollars at work!
I'm not saying that everyone who uses those services is dishonest or thieves.
However, I will say this - staying up on your taxes is pretty straightforward...the IRS will tell you exactly how much you owe each year and if you pay that amount, you won't get into trouble.
Further, as my father and mother spent many years trying to teach me - you ALWAYS have a choice in your actions and you have to learn to take responsibility. Everyone who is in tax trouble now at some point in their past made decisions that led to them being in that tax trouble...those decisions were not made for them. Sure, circumstances may have gotten in the way, but it still boils down to the decisions they made.
It's like the house thing for Mel and I. Regardless of the reality that the housing market has crashed since we bought it, we are still responsible for the decision to buy the house. Period. And should we have to go through a foreclosure and have our credit wrecked, it will not be "the market's fault," it will be our own fault.
You ALWAYS have a choice!
